Dr Umer Butt is a full time Senior Executive Consultant in Orthopaedics, specialising in knee and a shoulder surgery practicing full time at Circle Bath/Reading Hospital since October 2013. Dr Butt is also practicing as a Visiting Consultant at A.O. Hospital (Trauma, Orthopaedics, Spinal & Sports Surgery). He has special interest in joint preservation surgery performing operations like partial knee replacement, knee cap replacement, osteotomy, arthroscopic multi-ligament reconstruction, meniscal scaffold, cartilage transplant, meniscal transplant, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization, cuff repairs, ACJ reconstruction and shoulder replacement. He qualified in 2001 from St Petersburg Medical Academy. Following that he completed his basic surgical training from Wessex Deanery and Higher Orthopaedic Specialist training in Bristol and south west region. After completing his Intercollegiate Board exam in FRCS T&O from Edinburgh, he went to do his Specialised Fellowship in Computer Navigation Knee replacement and soft tissue reconstruction from Dereford University Hospital, Plymouth. He completed Senior Fellowship in Soft Tissue Knee Reconstruction, Joint Preservation Surgery, Shoulder and Knee Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Injury under Supervision of well Neil Bradbury and Andrew Chambler from Circle Health Hospital. He also gained extensive experience in shoulder arthroscopic surgery by undertaking travelling fellowship experience in France. He has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals, been invited to international conferences to deliver lectures, presented local and internationally and organized various courses. He is tutor for FRCS T&O course in Bristol and Oswestry He is lead for education and research at Circle Bath, leading fellowships programs for Post FRCS T&O Fellows. Dr Butt recently established first Pakistan Sports Injury and Arthroscopy Service at A.O. Hospital Sports Injury Unit Karachi. He is lead for education and fellowship program and recently initiated 2 fellowship-training posts for local surgeons.
